Arrival & Check-In

Upon arrival, a client service representative will greet you and escort you to a private room as soon as possible. Your pet will be checked in, and the veterinarian will be notified of your arrival.

Discussion & Paperwork

A client service representative will explain the process, answer any questions, and guide you through any necessary decisions. A small amount of paperwork will be completed to ensure your wishes are understood and respected.

IV Catheter Placement

To ensure smooth and painless procedure, the vet will place a small IV catheter in your pet's vein. Your pet will be taken to the hospital treatment area, where a nurse will provide comfort and support during this process.

Payment Completion

During the catheter placement, a client service representative will assist you settling the invoice. This step is completed beforehand to allow you to focus entirely on your pet in the final moments.

Final Goodbye

Your pet will be brought back to the private room (unless you've choosen to leave after completing the papperwork). This time is for you to say farewell in peaceful and private setting, with as much time as needed.

Euthanasia Procedure

If you choose to stay, the veterinarian will perform the procedure with care and compassion by your side. If you prefer not to be present, your pet will be taken to the hospital area for euthanasia.

Pet Burial and Cremation

These are the choices you will be given for pet burial and cremation. If you are overwhelmed by grief, unable to make a decision or need to discuss this decision with family members we are able to hold your pet at Vet24. Our staff will follow up with you in 24 hours, to check what you have decided.

Private cremation

Lawnswood are our recommended private cremation company. Vet24 charge a very small fee to prepare and store your pet for private cremation, we also organise your booking with Lawnswood. Payment for private cremation is made directly to the cremation company. Lawnswood will contact you directly using the details we provide them for your booking. For more information click here 

General cremation

Cremation by Lawnswood. No ashes will be returned to you from this option. There is a charge for general cremation.

Home burial

Our staff will wrap your pet’s body in a clean dignified way, for you to bury at home. No extra charge to you.

Do I need an appointment for pet euthanasia at Vet24?

No, an appointment is not required for euthanasia at Vet24. You can come in at any time. However, if you prefer to schedule an appointment, you are welcome to do so.

What happens when I arrive at Vet24 for euthanasia?

A client service representative will greet you and take you to a private room as soon as possible. Your pet will be checked in, and the vet will be notified. The representative will then explain the process, discuss your options, and assist with a small amount of paperwork.

Can I be present during the euthanasia process?

Yes, you can choose to be present or absent during euthanasia. If you choose to stay, the vet will perform the procedure in your private room. If you prefer not to be there, your pet will be taken to the hospital area for euthanasia.

What if I need more time to decide on aftercare?

If you are unsure about your choice, Vet24 can hold your pet for up to 24 hours, and staff will follow up to discuss your decision.

Can Vet24 assist if I need help getting home afterward?

Yes, if you feel too emotional to drive, please let a staff member know. They can arrange for a family member to pick you up or provide a safe space for you to take your time before leaving.
